My Story
I’m Nick Burnett, Founder and CEO of Tailgate, and I’m a diehard Detroit & Michigan sports fan in the Philly area. For decades, I’ve watched hundreds of games and taken countless trips to the bar, but I was always watching my favorite teams alone. And even though I’ve joined social media groups and downloaded different apps, I could never find an easy way to find other fans like me in my area.
So I decided to build a simple way for out-of-market fans like me to find and connect with each other and that’s when Tailgate was born.
Why Build Tailgate?
Being a fan is who we are. It’s a part of our identity.
We proudly wear our team’s gear to the store or on game day because we love our city, hometown, or team. We crave the excitement. The nerves when the stakes are the highest. We suffer heartbreaking losses year after year all for the rush of getting that big win. But being an out-of-market fan shouldn’t mean flying solo.
